Olive Oil

For five generations, our family has been harvesting olives in Jaen, an area of Spain surrounded by mountains that enjoys dry and very sunny summers combined with cold winters. These conditions provide the perfect climate to produce the very best Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Our pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil is cold pressed from our Spanish Picual olives, a full-bodied variety known for its fruity flavour and slightly bitter, light peppery taste.

Our EVOO offers green aromas of the orchard and fresh-cut grass. The taste is intense and fruity, calling to mind tomato, banana peel and green leaves, with mildly bitter and spicy notes that remind us of fennel, artichoke and bitter almonds.

The result is an elegant olive oil with great depth that is especially delicious when drizzled over salad, pasta and grilled vegetables and also excellent for high -heat cooking techniques.

Susana and Daughters Cowdray Estate Olive Oil bottle

Early Harvest

Early Harvest olive oil is pressed from olives that are harvested earliest in the season, when the olives are unripe and bright green in colour.

Here’s how Susana & Daughters first started:

While pressing unripe olives yields less olive oil, it conserves the natural antioxidants and polyphenols and consequently produces olive oil with superior health benefits. Research studies have shown that polyphenols (organic compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties) have preventative and therapeutic effects for cardiovascular disease, cancer and other chronic illnesses. Not to mention the anti-aging and hydrating qualities for your skin.

Early Harvest Olive Oils contain more anti-inflammatory nutrients, they also deliver a more robust aroma and flavour, making Early Harvest the ideal option for both culinary use and as part of your wellness routine.

You may have heard the rumour that we shouldn’t be cooking with EVOO, but that’s actually a myth that has been proven wrong. Extra Virgin Olive Oil, especially Early Harvest EVOO, has been found to be an extremely stable oil, producing less harmful chemicals under heat than any other cooking oil. The higher the quality the more stable the olive oil is!

With so many benefits to Early Harvest Olive Oil, you might be wondering why it is not more widely available. Well, it all comes down to the cost. With less yield and a more manual harvesting process, producing one bottle of Early Harvest Olive Oil is more expensive, making it a less economical option for many mass-market companies.

Our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is Early Harvest.

WHY CHOOSE OUR OLIVE OIL?

1

EVOO & Cold Pressed

Our olive oil is Extra Virgin and 1st Cold Pressed. This means no contact with solvents or nasty chemicals. They are mechanically extracted at cold temperatures to maintain their premium quality. Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is the healthiest and also the most stable of all oils and fats for cooking due to the high content of polyphenols which protect the properties of the olive oil at high temperatures.

2

EARLY HARVEST

From health benefits, to taste, to heat resistance - Early Harvest Olive Oil is the most premium option when it comes to olive oils.

3

Picual Olives

We only use the finest Picual Olives and do not mix with other varieties. Picual olives are one of the most healthiest varieties due to their high polyphenol levels. These are natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds which provide the majority of the health and medical benefits.

4

REGION

Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) certified, our olive oil is made solely from olives grown in the province of Jaén in Andalusia.
